Ad spend health check

The ad spend health check is a two-minute questionnaire about your Google or Meta ads. It rates tracking, profitability, setup, spend control, ownership and reporting as healthy, leaking or at risk, and names each symptom in one plain sentence. It never asks for access to your account, and you can have the full report emailed.

Question 1 of 14

What kind of business is it?

What does it check?

Six areas: whether you can see what your ads earn (tracking), whether you know your break-even (profitability), whether your campaign types suit your data (setup), whether spend is controlled, whether you own the account, and whether anyone is accountable for reporting. Four context questions about your business, spend, platforms and who runs the ads decide which route I recommend.

How do I read the result?

Healthy means no symptoms in that area. Leaking means something is costing you money without breaking the account. At risk means a problem serious enough that the numbers can't be trusted, or the account isn't yours. The overall status is the most serious of the six.

How is it scored?

Every score comes from your answers, shown beside the result. For Performance Max, Google's Target ROAS guidance for Search and Shopping sets a minimum of 15 conversions in the past 30 days, and Google advises value-based bidding only where conversion values are tracked (source: Google Ads Help, checked 23 September 2026). Performance Max with fewer than 15 conversions a month scores at risk, 15 to 29 scores leaking, and 30 or more with values tracked scores healthy. That banding is my own scoring, not a Google statistic. The scoring never favours my clients or counts against anyone else's.

The mistake I see most
Inflated numbers from broken or misconfigured conversion tracking in Google Ads, and no revenue tracking in Google Analytics, so the owner has no real view of what Google does for them.

Questions people ask

Do I need to connect my ad account?

No. It's a questionnaire, so there's no account connection and nothing stored about your account.

Why doesn't it tell me how to fix things?

Because the fix depends on why it's happening in your account, and that needs someone to look at it. The check shows what's wrong and how serious it is. The £97 ad account teardown explains why, and what to fix first.
