AI search readiness check
The AI search readiness check tests whether AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity can find, read and quote your website. It reads your robots.txt, sitemap and llms.txt, requests your page as the AI assistants do, checks structured data and answer-first content, and adds five questions a scan can't answer.
What does it check?
Access: whether your robots.txt lets search and AI crawlers in, and whether ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity can open your page. Structure: structured data. Content: answers to customer questions, question-shaped headings and an answer-first opening. Trust: figures with sources, and author signals. Technical: sitemap, llms.txt, content readable without JavaScript, speed, and title, description and canonical. Then five questions on Search Console, Google Business Profile, reviews, publishing and public answers.
How do I read the scores?
Each score comes with what I found, in plain English. Anything under 50 is worth fixing first, and the Access scores matter most: if AI assistants can't open your page, nothing else counts. The full fix list, in order of impact, comes by email.
Why a live fetch test?
Because rules and reality can differ. A robots.txt can allow every crawler while a firewall or bot-protection setting quietly refuses them. The only way to know is to request the page the way an AI assistant does.

When I ran Nodus through another free checker on 23 September 2026, it reported every AI crawler allowed, yet a live Claude fetch of the same site was refused. That's why this check makes real requests as the assistants, as well as reading the rules.
