Ad management

Switching from your ad agency

Switching from an ad agency goes smoothly when your business owns the ad account, the tracking is checked before anything changes and the handover is planned. I review the account independently, make sure you own it and its history, and take over without a gap in your campaigns.

Signs it's time to switch

  • Your agency has gone quiet, or the account manager changed again
  • Spend has gone up and results haven't
  • You get a report you couldn't explain to anyone else
  • You're not sure who owns the ad account

What do I do?

Before you give notice, I review the account through the £97 ad account teardown (no VAT is charged), confirm your business owns it and check what the tracking shows. Then we plan the handover: access, conversion actions, audiences and landing pages, so nothing gets lost and campaigns keep running.

What you get

  • An independent view of what your agency has built
  • Confirmation that you own the account and its history
  • A handover plan with nothing left behind
  • One accountable person running the account from the day it moves

Worth knowing: Some accounts are well run. If yours is, I'll tell you to stay.

How it runs

Teardown first, then the handover plan, then the switch. Once you've moved, Google Ads management takes over. Work through the free agency switching checklist before you give notice.

What I think
A typical agency's free audit is part of its sales process. It exists to sell management and often leads into a discounted trial run by a junior account manager. An independent review has nothing to sell, so it can tell you plainly what's wrong with your account.
The mistake I see most
Inflated numbers from broken conversion tracking, and no revenue tracking in Google Analytics, so the owner can't see what the agency has achieved.

Questions people ask

Will I lose my account history if I leave?

Not if the ad account belongs to your business. If the agency created it under its own manager account, ask for ownership to be transferred before you give notice.

What should I ask the agency for?

Admin access in your name, the conversion actions and how they're set up, any audience lists, the landing pages they built and your reports. The agency switching checklist lists them all.

Will my ads stop while we switch?

No. I plan the handover so campaigns keep running while access changes.
